Holiday Closure Email Template
A closure notice helps customers plan around your time off. Beyond the dates, tell them what happens to orders, shipping and support while you're closed. That prevents a pile of confused emails when you reopen.

How to write it
- State the closing dates and the reopening date with weekdays.
- Cover orders, shipping, support and payments separately. Keep only what applies to your business.
- If you offer an urgent contact, say what it's for.
- Put the dates in the subject line so the message works without being opened.
When to send it
One to two weeks before the closure is a good default. If there's a shipping cutoff, make sure the email lands before it.
For an unplanned closure, send a short notice as soon as you know.
The footer is not optional
Under the CAN-SPAM Act, commercial email must identify the sender, include a valid physical postal address, and give a clear way to opt out that you honor within 10 business days. A newsletter that promotes your products or services counts as commercial.
The footer at the end of the example covers these items. Build it once with the email footer generator and reuse it in every issue so nothing gets dropped.
Drafting this with Newsletter Ready
If your holiday hours are posted on your website, the email can be drafted from that post, so the dates in the email match the dates on your site.
- It checks your news or blog listing page, or your RSS feed, every hour and picks up new articles (up to 10 at a time).
- It drafts an issue from up to 6 of the newest articles you haven't used yet. It writes only facts found in those articles and links to the source under each section.
- Nothing is sent until you approve it.
- Sender details and the unsubscribe link are added automatically. Unsubscribing takes one click, and bounces and spam complaints are suppressed automatically.
- Paste your site URL on the homepage to see a sample issue in about a minute, without signing up. The free plan covers 300 subscribers and 4 issues per month.
