Holiday Closure Notice Generator: Email Your Customers

Closing for the holidays, a summer break or a renovation? Customers need the dates, when you'll be back and what happens to their orders and messages in between. Enter the details and the AI writes a clear closure notice with a subject line. Anything you didn't give, such as the order cut-off, stays a [placeholder], so no wrong date slips in.

What you enter is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to create the result. We don't save it; only a short excerpt appears in an internal usage notice to our team.

How to use it

  1. Enter the closure dates, including weekdays and the reopening date if you have them.
  2. Choose the reason and describe how orders, inquiries and urgent requests are handled (optional).
  3. Choose the audience, click Generate with AI, fill in any [placeholders] and send.

What to include in a closure notice

  • The dates you're closed, with weekdays.
  • The day you reopen.
  • When you'll reply to emails and messages.
  • Order and shipping cut-offs, and when later orders will ship.
  • An urgent contact, if you offer one, and what it's for.
  • A short thank-you for their patience.

When to send it

Send the notice one to two weeks before you close, and before any shipping cut-off. A short reminder the day before helps. Then update your website banner, your auto-reply and the delivery estimates in your online store so everything says the same thing.

Tips by reason

  • Year-end holidays: add warm wishes for the new year and thank customers for the past year.
  • Summer break: keep it short; customers mainly need the dates and cut-offs.
  • Renovation: say when you reopen and what is still available meanwhile, such as online orders.
  • Unexpected closures: send as soon as you know. A brief reason is fine; you don't have to give one.
