Free Business Card Reader: Turn Card Photos into an Email List (CSV)

After a trade show or a week of meetings, typing business cards into a spreadsheet takes ages. Choose photos of the cards and AI reads the company, name and email address into a table. Fix anything on the spot, then copy the list or download a CSV for your email tool.

Photos are sent to AI only to read the text and are not stored. Don't upload cards of people who would object.

How to use it

  • Choose up to 5 photos at a time. Phone photos work, and so do photos with several cards in them.
  • Cards are read one by one, and the company, name and email address appear in the table. Duplicate addresses are merged.
  • Fix any mistakes in the table and remove rows you don't need.
  • Download a CSV (UTF-8 with BOM, so Excel shows non-English characters correctly) or copy the list as text.

Tips for clean results

  • Shoot the card straight on, without shadows or glare.
  • For cards with small print, take one card per photo and fill the frame.
  • Cards without a printed email address are skipped.
  • The AI copies the printed text as it is and doesn't guess missing characters, but mistakes still happen. Always check before you send anything.

Can you email the people on the cards?

It depends on where they are. In the US, CAN-SPAM doesn't require prior consent, but every marketing email needs your identity, a postal address and a working unsubscribe link. In the EU, the UK and Canada, a business card alone is often not enough for marketing email, and Japan has a specific exception for addresses given on a card.

Not sure? Use the free consent checker to see what applies for each country and how you got the address. The safest route is to send one short email first asking whether they'd like your newsletter, and only add the people who say yes.

FAQ

  • Is it free? Yes, with no sign-up. You can read up to 10 photos an hour from the same connection.
  • Are the photos stored? No. They are sent to AI only to read the text. Don't upload cards of people who would object.
  • Does it read cards in other languages? It copies the text as printed, in any language.
  • Can I read more than 5 at once? Newsletter Ready's dashboard reads up to 20 photos at a time (500 a month) and adds the contacts straight to your list.

From business cards to subscribers

In Newsletter Ready, the Business cards tab adds the contacts straight to your subscriber list. For business-card contacts you can first send one “May we email you?” message and only add the people who say yes (AI drafts it and you review it before it goes out). The newsletter itself is drafted by AI from the articles on your website.
