AI win-back email generator: bring inactive subscribers back

Every list has people who haven't opened in months. Tell us about your business and what has changed, and AI drafts one honest "it's been a while" email, from subject line to sign-off. It never invents offers or numbers you didn't give it.

What you enter is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to create the result. We don't save it; only a short excerpt appears in an internal usage notice to our team.

How to use it

  1. Describe your business and what your newsletter covers in one sentence.
  2. List two or three things that are new or that readers have missed. If you have a real offer, add it with its conditions and end date.
  3. Click "Generate with AI", replace the parts in [ ] with real names and links, and send it only to your inactive readers.

Why re-engage inactive subscribers?

When many subscribers stop opening, mailbox providers such as Gmail can read that as a sign your mail isn't wanted, which may hurt delivery to everyone else on your list. Spam filtering today leans far more on sender reputation and reader engagement (opens, replies, spam complaints) than on the words in your email.

A win-back email does two jobs: it brings back readers who still care, and it shows you who doesn't. Removing people who never respond keeps your list healthy.

How to write a win-back email that works

  • Say what changed in the subject: "We now open at 7 a.m." gives a reason to open; "We miss you" alone usually doesn't.
  • Don't guilt-trip: skip "We noticed you haven't been reading." A light "It's been a while" is enough.
  • Three things at most: pick what's most useful to the reader and put it first.
  • Only real offers: state the conditions and dates exactly. A concrete change is often reason enough without one.
  • One call to action: a single link, such as "See the new menu".

Always keep the unsubscribe option

A win-back email must still let people leave. In the US, the CAN-SPAM Act requires a clear way to opt out of every commercial email and that you honor requests within 10 business days. Gmail and Yahoo require one-click unsubscribe from bulk senders (5,000 or more messages a day).

A reader who can unsubscribe easily won't hit the spam button instead. Every email this tool writes includes a friendly unsubscribe line with an [unsubscribe link] placeholder.

What to do after you send

Send it only to readers who haven't opened anything for a few months. If there's no response to this email and one follow-up a week or two later, consider removing them. You can compare open and click rates with the newsletter metrics calculator.

Newsletter Ready finds readers who received three or more issues in the last 120 days without opening any, every morning. On the Pro plan, AI also drafts a win-back email for them.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. No signup needed, and you can use it up to 10 times an hour.

Do I need a discount to win readers back?

Not necessarily. A specific change, such as new hours or a new product, is often enough. This tool never adds an offer you didn't enter.

What should I do with readers who still don't respond?

If a follow-up gets no response either, it's usually best to stop sending to them. Mailing people who never open can affect delivery to the rest of your list.
