AI Subject Line Generator for Email Newsletters

Stuck on a subject line again? Describe what this issue is about and the AI suggests five subject lines, each from a different angle. Use the one you like best as a starting point and put it in your own words.

What you enter is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to create the result. We don't save it; only a short excerpt appears in an internal usage notice to our team.

How to use it

  1. Describe the issue in two or three sentences. Include dates, numbers and product names if you have them.
  2. Add your industry (optional), choose a tone and click Generate with AI.
  3. Pick a subject line and copy it. Check how it looks on a phone with the subject line checker.

Four things that get subject lines opened

  • Say what it's about: "Our November update" says little. Name the actual news.
  • Front-load the key words: phones often cut off the end of long subject lines.
  • Show the benefit to the reader: "You can now visit us on Saturdays" beats "Saturday hours".
  • Match the content: if the email doesn't deliver what the subject promises, readers unsubscribe or report spam.

How long should a subject line be?

Aim for 50 characters or fewer, and make sure the first 30 to 40 carry the message, since that is roughly what many phones show. The exact cut-off depends on the email app and text size. This tool shows the character count of each suggestion and flags the ones that may be cut off.

Honest subject lines protect your deliverability

Clickbait may win an open once, but it drives spam complaints and unsubscribes. Gmail's sender guidelines ask bulk senders to keep their spam complaint rate below 0.3%, and the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act prohibits deceptive subject lines. This tool tells the AI to use only the facts you give it: no invented numbers or deadlines, no ALL CAPS and no fake Re: or Fwd:.

How this tool works

What you enter is sent to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to write the suggestions. We don't save your input. AI suggestions are drafts, so check facts and figures before you send.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. No signup is needed, and you can run it up to 10 times an hour.

Will it add emoji?

Only if you choose the Friendly tone, and then at most one per subject line. Some devices don't display emoji well, so use them only if they suit your readers.

How do I choose between two good options?

If your email tool supports A/B tests, send both to a small share of your list. Then compare open rates with the newsletter metrics calculator.
