AI subject line improver: turn your draft into a clearer subject line
You've written a subject line, but you're not sure it will get opened. Paste it here with a short description of the email. AI rewrites it in three directions (clearer and more specific, benefit first, shorter) and tells you exactly what it changed. If you'd rather start from scratch, use the AI subject line generator instead.
How to use it
- Paste the subject line you have now.
- Describe what the email says in two or three sentences, then click “Generate with AI”.
- Read the 3 versions and the notes, and copy the one you like. Check how it looks on a phone with the subject line checker.
Common fixes, with examples
- Say what's inside: “November newsletter” → “We're now open on Saturdays”. Readers see at a glance why the email matters.
- Put the key words first: “Thanks for being with us – our winter menu is here” → “Our 3 new winter dishes are here”. Save the pleasantries for the body.
- Lead with the reader's benefit: “Year-end tax webinar” → “Year-end tax tips you can still use, live on Thursday”.
- Cut the filler: dropping words like “update on”, “information about” or “just a quick note” makes the line far less likely to be cut off on a phone.
What a rewrite should never add
It's tempting to add a discount, a deadline or a number to boost opens, but if the email doesn't contain it, readers feel misled and unsubscribe or mark it as spam. Gmail asks bulk senders to keep spam complaints below 0.3%, and the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act prohibits deceptive subject lines. This tool tells the AI to use only the facts in your subject and description, and to remove hype like “URGENT” or “!!”.
When your subject line is already good
If your original is already clear, the AI won't pretend it's bad. It explains what it kept and offers alternative wordings. When you can't decide, A/B test the original against one version: the open rates will tell you which one suits your readers.
How this tool works
Your subject line and description are sent to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to create the suggestions. We don't save them. The suggestions are drafts, so check the facts before you send.
FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. No signup needed, up to 10 runs an hour.
How is this different from the AI subject line generator?
The generator writes 5 new subject lines from a description. The improver starts from your own subject line, rewrites it 3 ways and explains each change, so you learn what to fix next time.
How long should a subject line be?
Aim for about 50 characters or fewer, with the main point in the first 30 or so. Each version shows its character count and a warning if it may be cut off on phones.
